The University of New South Wales is a public research university in Sydney, incorporated in 1949 as the New South Wales University of Technology and now a member of the Group of Eight. Its main campus at Kensington lies around 7 km from the city centre. UNSW is associated with engineering, business, law, medicine and photovoltaics research.
